The Bronte Historical Society is a registered non profit, charitable organization whose mission is to preserve and protect Bronte's history and heritage. The Society and Historic Sovereign House are run by volunteers. We are always looking for members of the community to join and help us achieve our mandate.
Volunteers are involved in many aspects of our Society. Members serve as 'Hosts' of Sovereign House from late May until late October. The 'Hosts' primary responsibility is to welcome visitors and answer questions to encourage involvement by the community to become members. Volunteers are asked to help with hosting our public events and to help with arranging food and beverage for the public events, when warranted. Would you be interested in doing research for an upcoming newsletter article? Could you help us find creative ways to promote Sovereign House? We would love to hear your ideas.
We invite members to get involved with transcribing the "Sovereign Diaries" Charles Sovereign, who built Sovereign House and lived in the house with his family, kept a daily journal of "living in Bronte in the early to mid-1800’s." We have started transcribing his handwritten journals. What a great way to discover how life in Bronte was during that time.
